Hi This is Millies 2nd litter and a lot better mum than she ever was before, She has had a healthy little girl at 5pm and a healthy little boy at 7:15pm, she has just started contracting again at 8:50pm, last litter she had she had all 5 pups in 2 1/2 hours so this time is a longer time for her, she seems fine and is resting well inbetween, she looks set now to have another one, whats the longest i should give her between pups? both other pups are all feeding well and she is looking after them great

If longer then an hour with hard pushing and no sign of a pup call your vet...My one bitch went 3hrs between but was not in any distress. I was on the phone with my vet,and she delivered all 6 pups 3hrs apart. We did go to the vet once all was done to make sure mom and pups were fine. I was up 48hrs with her that time. :)

Depends on your bitch, just give your vet a call if your worried at all.

My girl had her first litter very quickly, second litter took twice as long, my vet said it's because they are wiser second time round, they take their time not to wear themselves out.  She also went just over 2 hours between pups, which worried me, but I was in contact with my vet at all times and everything turned out fine, she had a healthy litter of 7 pups.............this was last year, I hope when the time comes for her next litter it doesn't take longer again :-D

What's news this morning Millie Girl?

This could be me in a few weeks time!  Anxious but exciting!

I do hope everything is OK and that you've got a happy mum and a basket of puppies!

Hi thanks for all your posts, well i spent most of the night up and worried and phoned 3 different vets to put my self at ease, didnt want to keep waking the same one up lol!! plus i wanted another oppion, but she had  2 pups the boy and girl, both feeding very well and mum is doing just great, she has settled down now, I cant wait till tonite to get a good nights sleep, i am taking them to the vets later just for a check up on her and the pups, I feel like a new mum too and cant wait till i can start weening them and handling them. :-)
