Recently I was looking through the Higham Press archive at fcr results, I have a flattie who makes his debut on Saturday at Bath, one thing I noticed is Mike Gadsby had/ has flatties! I have admired his Yankees for years now and used to show mine, but as for flatties I didnt have a clue!
Any one knows what happened to these dogs, does he still have them? Were they made up? Any breeding details?
Sorry for being nosy guys I guess I just like knowing EVERYTHING about showing people!

May be wrong but have a feeling that he handles or co-owns a number of breeds in a number of different groups, he is one of the few profersional handlers we have in the UK, but there are one or two others for whom show dogs are a full time job.

I've never seen Mike Gadsby in the Flatcoat ring but that does not mean much. I've not been to many shows in recent years. Polly, Jo or Terri would be more likely to know if they see this thread. Most of the Flatties I get to see are in the field rather than in the ring.
Best wishes, John

Yes Mike had a Flatcoat import from Sweden (Almanza Upside Down for Afterglow), I think he went back to Sweden eventually. Gwen will know.

Hi, Mike imported Louis from Sweden and campaigned him for a short while. He was staying with friends before returning to Sweden, but I really havent kept up with his history - can ask if you really want to know. And just to correct a common misconception, Mike IS NOT a professional handler - he is VERY professional in the manner of his handling, but does not show other people dogs for fees, which is the usual definition os a pro-handler. All the dogs he handles are bred, owned or co-owned by Mike. Afterglow encompases a few breeds across the Gundog, Utility, Hound & Toy groups.

Did not mean professional handler in the American sense but that he is involved in dogs/hounds for a living and owns in partnership breeds from several groups and also handles dogs owned by others, possible of his or his several partners breeding. Do not think there are any true professional handler in the UK but there are a few that will handle for expenses.

I know that Mike Gadsby's dog hasn't been shown here for a while - he sired at least one litter that I know of, but then was retired. Whether he went back to Sweden or not, I'm afraid I don't know.

Hi Katherine, Louis ended up staying in the UK - he showed considerable aptitude in the field, and is with a lady in Hants. who adores him, he is a pet and is training to the gun.
