Im desperate for a golden ret puppy, but the trouble is our present dog is a bit of a nuisence, he sometimes barks at other dogs, and isnt that people friendly.

So we had a puppy 6 months ago, who didnt follow his bad behaviour, luckily! unfortuantly we lost her recently, was this a fluke, or do puppies generally not take notice of the other dogs bad behaviour??

Will this new pup, follow my dogs bad behavour?

It is very likely that a pup will pick up on bad habits that an older dog has, especially fears and phobias.  this is why it is important to take them out seperately as well as together, and to work on the n0older dogs problems too.

I ahve sold a bitch pup to a nice lady and her daughter, and at 16 weeks I was made aware that they had problems with walking her.

She would slam on the brakes and refuse to walk.

When I went to see what was happening I realised that their older dog is very nervous, but also very compliant.  she jumps any tume a car or lorry comes past etc.  T^he pup having more gumption had  decided that if the main road was that scary then it just would not go there!  It had been allowed the option of taking a quieter route, and it would not budge unless to go the other way.

I have been taking the pup out with my crowd, and it's housemate by turns, and both ahve improved.  Unfortunately she still digs her heels in if she wants her own way, knowing the older of her owners will gie in to her, as she isn't strong enough to insist pup walks on.

With me she trys it on, and gets nowhere so gives in and comes along.  I have to add that she is not afraid of the traffic anymore, as she realises none of her relatives bat an eyelid, and follows their example, even when I take her out with just her companion, she realises the old one is being silly.
