My sister in law has a 9 month dog and only one of his testicles has dropped. He sits funny and he also growls when you pick him up. He allways has done. The vet has said to get it removed as it may become cancerous. I also think that she should take him to get it removed, but other people are telling her to wait.

Can anyone advise the best thing to do.

There is no rush needed, what breed is the puppy? Some times the testicle can drop as late as 14 to 16 months in some breeds so give it a while and then if it does not put in an appearance it will have to be removed. But only the one that has not descended needs to be removed the other can stay but the dog should not be used to breed from.

I just had my westie bailey castrated as he had this. You don't need to castrate though they can remove the undecended one (make it clear at the vet). He is 14 months, gave me a horrible look when I picked him up but had no problems. Its best to get it removed the word cancer was all it took for me, he's my best friend better safe than sorry. I was worried it would change him but at the moment he's no different and he's not so randy its only been two weeks though. Good luck talk to the vet again he explained everything to me and made me feel at ease.

My dog has this 'womble' thing!! We were advised to have him castrated as the undescended testes was more prone to cancer. We had the poor lad done and thankfull he is still a young lad at 12. It also calmed him down - a bit!
