We purchased our puppy a few weeks ago the breeder was just starting out, her first litter.

We told her that we were experenced with this breed as we have had one for many years and had decided that if the bitch we purchased turns out to be a good dog we would like to breed with her. We paid alot of money for the dog £1700. When we purchased her the breeder said she would want us to wait untill she was over two which we agreed to verbally and we intend keeping our word. She never mentioned any endorsment at all when we purchased her, never signed any agreement and made it clear that we intended showing and breeding later on as we are now retired and have plenty of time to devote. We now have our dog with endorsments saying we cant breed with her and also cant export her( not that we intend to )

She has said that she will lift them when the dog is over two, my problem is this lady is rather ill at the moment and I am now rather worried that I have paid all this money and she may move, pass away or not keep to this in two years. She never mentioned at all endorsments when we purchased her.
Do we have any come backs on her, I want my dog to have no endorsements for breeding i was sold her with the itentions of breeding her, I am willing to write a letter stating I will not breed with her untill over two.

If you were not given any documentation stating that the endorsements were on the dog and/or you did not sign any documents confirming that you understand and agree to the endorsements, the KC will lift them on appeal.

When we sell our puppies, we always endorse them to ensure that all the health clearances (which we also name and the maximum hip score that we will accept). The purchaser is asked to sign a declaration that we have explained the reasons for the endorsements and that they agree to the terms of the endorsements. We keep a signed copy and they also keep a signed copy.
This will protect us in any dispute that may arise in the future and the KC will be bound to support us because we have followed their guidelines.

It may seem a bit tough on the breeder that the KC will remove the endorsements without the breeder's agreement, but she should have studied the KC's guidance notes more thoroughly.

If the facts are exactly as you state, then I would ring the breeder and tell her how suprised you were at the endorsements, being as she was aware that your intention was to breed and she never mentioned the endorsements. Unless you signed something for the breeders records, saying that the endorsements were explained to you, and you understood the implications, then the Kennel Club will lift the endorsement in your favour.
