How much exercise do they need each day? I read somewhere it was 100-120 minutes per day. Is this right?

i donot know where you got that from my 1 year old still on the lead and up to 40 mins  day, only let off for short 5 mins run, only one walk a day,she got 4  other fcr to play with in the household.

5mins to each month untill it a year old,
to much excercise puts presser on the joints and cause to many problems, like hip, elbows.pattlla, and so.

plus you have not stated how old your fcr is, thats if you got one,if you have not and just looking into one to find from details on please logging then the other friendley fcr owner or breeders are willing to help out.

They are gundogs, designed to be out all day, but not until adulthood, and not 'on the go' all the time. While they are pups, 5 minutes exercise per month of age is fine per walk (maybe three times a day when they're small) gradually building. When they are fully mature (about 2 years old) then they should be capable of as much as you can give them.

I am usually out for up to two hours at a time walking my adult dogs, during which they will have free running play, plus we do in that time a bit of training. Puppies and young dogs as the other replies say, should have much less exercise. Also don't suddenly go from short periods of exercise to doing what I do with my adults which are all very fit and used to working all day. Always increase exercise over a period of time, so that the dog builds up to it slowly.
