Hi everyone,

What is the best way for me to bulk my dog up i.e put some more weight on him?  Someone told me that brown rice is the answer, is this true.  Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks

Check out the feeding forum, there are heaps of questions and replies on this very subject.
Just a few things off the top of my head that have helped my lean dog bulk up are:lamb flaps, green tripe, lamb breast, marrow bones(but would have to consume alot) suit(from butcher) beef dripping, the fattiest cuts of meat you can find. As for the brown rice,it is better for them than white rice and it does contain more calories, but i dont think it would do a great deal fed by itself, you would have to mix it with other fatty foods.

good luck

Is this an adult dog?

If it is, then yes, fattier foods, and preferably good quality ones.

If its NOT, if its an immature dog, then leave well alone, dogs do NOT need to carry extra weight about until they are amture (not even then if you ask me) and that weight should be muscle and not fat. Fat dogs have joint problems and fat young dogs will not lead a happy or long life.
