I have got to send off the change of ownership form for my pup, now the pup is mine, I wanted him,  I paid for him and pay for everything for him, and if anything happens between me and my man he is most definitely my dog.  The breeders suggested I put both of our names down as joint owners because other wise he will have to pay to get into shows etc.  The thing im worried about is how much of a claim with OH have over my dog if we split up and he decided he wanted him ?  OH doesnt mind if he isnt put down as joint owner but I wondered what difference it would make ?

Make the pup yours Claire and let OH pay for his own show entrance fees!! ;)

Most shows just allow you one entry pass per dog entered...some give an extra pass but not many so as far as I'm aware he would have to pay anyway.
I would put the dog in your name only....otherwise if things went wrong and you seperated you would not be able to enter into a show because he would have to sign the entry form aswell.

Hi Claire, I'm with the others, register the dog in your name only. It's not a fortune to get into shows.

Archer, It's not true that all registered owners must sign entry forms. I have dogs owned in several different partnerships, some with hundreds of miles between us, and I sign the forms as the dogs live with me. Even Crufts, no problem, never had a problem.

And Archer is correct about the single passes - I very, very rarely get more than 1 pass for Ch shows, even though several of ours are registered in 2 or 3 names.
