Hi,
could anyone help with an agressive problem in my year old GSD? He has twice 'gone for' a stranger when they have stopped petting him. The first time was outside our training class. He walked up to her and asked for attention, She fussed him but when she stopped he flew at her snarling. I dont know what would have happened if he hadnt been on the lead.
The second time was yesterday at a local agricultural show. We were sitting by a ring and he was lying at my feet. A person sat beside us which he wasnt bothered about. He crawled along the ground till he was with him and again asked for attention. The gent fussed him but then the dog snarled at him while being fussed this time.

I dont know why this is happening and would appreciate some advice.
thanks

Guest it could be a number of things and without seeing the problem it is difficult to know which. Would suggest you take the dog to the vet to make sure he is in good health, and if he is ask the vet to recomend a trainer you could see to sort the problem or you could pick one from this site  they should come out with you and watch the situation and then be able to give the right advice. Would love to be able to help you but think you will understan that the wrong advice is worse than no advice. Hope you have it sorted soon, in the mean time try to avoid the situation.

I agree 100% with this advice - there are so many things that could be setting this dog off, and careful observation of his body language is needed to sort this out, once the vet has ruled out any medical problems.
