Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / IRISH SETTER OR DALMATIAN!??
- By Guest [gb] Date 15.05.04 16:53 UTC
Im thinking of getting a dog, that i would take to classes as much as possible, as i hope to work in one! :)
I love both, probs leaning towards irish! :P

If someone could answer these questions i would be very grateful.

which out of the two is easier to train offlead?
which better with other dogs?
friendlier with strangers?

                                                          Thanks! Carrie Alders

ooo have an irish!
I have a 2 yr old bitch who is better than i could of expected, ok she was hard work when younger but certainly not unbearable, as long as you have a sense of humour, things will work, they try hard to please, but sometimes dont always get things right!

Irish setters are very low dominance dogs, so they get on with everything and everyone!
but this doesnt mean they dont need sociolisation, they do, the more the better.

If you take your dog to classes as much as possible, then i dont see you having a prob with off lead training, as long as you are firm and consistant.

Good luck with what ever you choose, they are both great dogs.
Im just biased :P
