Make me laugh all these ads :(
Like they werent interviewed for the job before they got pup - do some people have any foresight? Or are they just THICK!

Nikki, who's pup is it, bet it is from that well know Manchester warehouse, no responsible breeder would have let the pup go at that age to anyone without experience. Courtesy our Irish breeders I would think - please tell me I am right - can't bear the thought that it was one of our normal breeders. G*d, I feel sick!!!!!

lel I think thick is the correct word cant imagine what the buyer or seller were thinking about. Nobody gets a job overnight
Jean

just a thing to say isnt it? instead of "cant cope"!

I'd ring, what if it was one of your babies. Oh the thought does not bear thinking about. :(
Karen
Edited to say. Maybe thinking about it I wouldn't ring, what could you do if you did?
Karen (even more confused than before)

Please do Kazz, we need to know, if only to offer a home, and have a word with the breeder :)

Well if it was from a breeder could you not let them know, especially if they haven't been informed. Gillian

I haven't got the number but if you want to PM it to me Archer I will ring. Such a shame, and maybe the breeder does not know, Jackie am I right in assuming you would know they "affix" of most breeders in your breed?

Yep all our breeders in the breed club wouldno home a pup until 7 weeks at the earliest, and always take the pup back, especially at this age, whereas with a mature dog they would ask if the owner can hang on while they get things rolling to find a new home, if it was possible, otherwise they would arrange something for the dog, such as temporary kenneling.
I don't think there is anyone with pups that age, as the youngest two litters I know of are 10 and 6 weeks old?

Had a message from Robert Greaves our breed rescue chap, and he would like the number. Could someone email him on whittimere.elkhounds@virgin.net

Have just sent the whole page to Robert, head of our Rescue.

Okay I have rung the number but no answer, however it has gone to bt 1571 and I have left a brief message saying I will ring back after 7.00pm which I will, and my first name.
Karen
Do you think it might be a misprint - 7 months??
By Jackie H
Date 15.05.04 18:05 UTC
7 weeks, 7 months, 7 years or even 17 any Elkhound breeder I know of would want to know and would take it back or arrange for it's rehoming, we don't have Elkhounds looking for homes they are always helped who ever bred them and where ever they come from.

>> bet it is from that well know Manchester warehouse <<
Gives me no pleasure to be proven right - wish I could close the place down, along with any other like them - talk about irresponsible, they are totally without morals.

Hello Archer,
I'm glad you got them because I couldn't, but did today told she was sold not to ring back :(
Karen

Well I wrote about it in the breed notes printed in Dog World this week.
I also critiscised the other canine weekly for taking the adverst from dog Lovers Reg co UK (I notice they are in there weekly now rather than the fortnightly they were in recent months).
Now I don't know about you but maybe all of us who have advertised with Our Dogs (I have put advert in their Annual and doen the odd advert) should write in and boycott them until they stop printing the adverts.
By printing them they are giving tacit approval to the Puppy Farm that this organisation services.

I noticed that in Our Dogs and I was quite shocked and surprised to see it there.

When I complained to Exchange and Mart about similar adverts many moons ago I was told that under the Fair Trading laws they had to accept adverts from any legal business which unfortunately they are.

I can't see how that can be so, as otherwise they would have toaccept adverts from puppy farms and coommercial dealers, and as far as I know they don't?
Doesn't it say somewhere that they accpt advertisment at their discretion?
By Isabel

Can't find anything about discretion just conforming to Code of Advertising Practice. Perhaps the puppy farmers etc don't advertise in the dog press as it is the wrong audience

I wonder why Dog World don't carry their ads? I beleive they have a wider circulation? There must be a way of avoiding having to carry the ads surely?

Perhaps their advertising department could enlighten us as to the truth of what E&M told me :)

Its a funny business with the dog world/our dogs.
As you may well know i have JRTs the unregistered/unrecognized type, but in most other countries the breed is KC recognized, i have a few champions abroad now & they would be able to advertise in Dog World annual or Our Dogs annual if they so wished as their dogs are KC registered(i bred them though) but i cannot advertise my dogs in the annual because they aren't registered or a recognized breed with the English KC. The people abroad can advertise however in the annuals because the annual is a worldwide publication or something.
Strange world!
P.S I hope this poor little pup finds a good lifelong home.
Can't always be the case as I complained to Our Dogs recently about an advert they were carrying for electric shock collars and it was removed. They apologised and said it had slipped through. I have also complained about the DLRC adverts but have received no response in spite of several attempts.
