Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / When to change to adult food?
- By alic [gb] Date 14.05.04 21:31 UTC
Hi
Was just wondering when it might be right to change our Lab over to adult food. The vet said about eight months but I was wondering whether it was ok to phase it in earlier or whether this would be harmful to her development? I've read elsewhere on here that puppies calm down when they're put on adult food (because of the different protein content? I can't remember).

Any thoughts?

I change my Labs over at 6 months. Probably start to mix a little in a couple of weeks before gradually increasing the adult food until I have dropped the puppy completely.

Best wishes, John

Hi
Thanks for the feedback (and making me laugh!). I was hoping around six months would be ok especially as her teeth are almost all changed over so she should be ok with the adult food as it's slightly larger pieces.

Thanks!
