Hi all.
I was woken at 5.00am Tuesday morning by my Dad shouting me saying Mom can't breathe. (Mom and Dad live here - long story) I almost fell over went in to see her and she was pale and her lips were going blue, she was disoriantated, and really really struggling to breathe. I phoned an ambulance and acted on my "first aid" knowledge. Ambulance got here gave her oxygen and, and Mom said she had pains in her back and arms, and felt sick. They got her to hospital and she has had a heart attack, they said the first 48 hours are critical. She's still in hospital but much better than she was.
So apart from the scare/panic, it also means I won't be having the pup I couldn't expect Dad to care for a pup as well as Sal, while Mom is not well.
Karen

Oh Karen, I'm so sorry to hear about your Mum. I remember when my father had his heart attack how scared and worried I was. But with the right care (and they've learned so much more in the 30-odd years since Dad had his) she will hopefully make an excellent recovery, as did my Dad.
I'll be thinking of you.

Thanks all.
Just popping back up to the hospital and info from my brother is she is fine - looking better and complaining about the cups of tea!
Margot, my year is going fine it's the "dodgy" ones around me ;) but hey what can you do, I'm sorry to have "missed" my chance at the pup but the breeder has been great, although I feel terrible at letting him down.
But I can't take on a pup and give her what she deserves with Mom in hospital or home recovering and Ben not to well at the moment and still find time to excercise Sal, go to work full time, find time to shop clean etc, as well as my Mom has reminded me she was to keep an eye on my Aunt (her sister), while the two other sisters are away, my aunt has learning difficulties and lives in shelter housing, all the way over in Kidderminster from B'ham, so got to add that to my list now.
Anyway you have to take the rough with the smooth don't you :)

Well I might be impressed too if I could remember what I did. According to my sister who was there in minutes only living round the corner. I shouted at her (sister that is) but whatever I did it was the right thing Thank God. Well worth the first aid course done through work without a doubt.

I've just seen this Karen. I'm praying things go well for your mother. The first little while is always the most risk. As long as this goes well for her she has time to take it as a warning and take care.
Thinking of you.
Love, John

Hope your mum recovers swiftly Kazz. Really sorry to hear that you've missed out on your pup too. Maybe next year? Tell your mum she's got to get better soon 'cos you need her pup-handling skills!
Take care

Thanks all.
News is Mom should be out of hospital by the later part of next week, as long as she carries on progressing as she is :)
Which will be good as she is moaning about the standard of the cups of tea now ;)
Karen

That's an excellent sign, Karen! To complain means that she's feeling much better - when you feel really bad you don't care about stuff like that.

Yes your right JG,
The nurses today said they'd never known anyone like my Dad though; as he has been taking, lunch and dinner to mom everyday so they can share it, lunch normally a salad and either meat or salmon. Dinner baked potatoes soup or something he or rather we the ever moving children can get there still hot in 20 minutes driving time.
As he said she won't like the horrible hospital food, he has also being taking on the last visit a flask of coco so they can have their ritual bedtime drink together.
Thank you again everyone. I appreciate the thoughts very much, it has been a shock to us all.
Karen
Glad your Mum is improving Karen, I hope she's soon home .....and well done to your Dad! My Dad spent most of last year in and out of hospital and we had to take a lot of his food in because the hospital food was appalling. :(
