:o Sorry I really thought you were potty training your puppy when I saw this post

I couldn't believe the dedication to training someone would give to their 'dog'.
As to potty training a little girl I really can't advise,I had two boys :D but I have been told girls are much easier to train! I think the less you stress about it the more she will realise how easy it is to do and how much nicer it is to be clean and dry!
Good luck :)

be going through potty training again soon with my other daughter>>> lol
the joys of having children
Hi tracey, my 3 girls didnt start toilet training till they were pulling off their nappies at 12-18 months and then we went for it big style, starting with potty before bathtime. Girls can be left with just dresses on in summer with the potty nearby. I used to give em lots of juice and let em go. The thing to avoid is putting nappies back on except at bedtimes so if you go in the car be prepared for accidents, adn dont ask em if they need to go. Watch out for granny types who want them to go in case as it dosent give the wee ones the control they crave. The big reward for our lot was choosing big girl pants. Oh and stock up on pants socks shorts etc in charity shops so you dont get overwhelmed by washing. I never found any difference between boys and girls once started it was just the lads were less motivated to lose the nappies.

Hi Tracey,
With both of mine it happened when they were ready :D for my daughter at 18 months old and for my son about two years, I have friends who tried to 'force' the potty training ie. didn't wait until tot was asking for potty etc. and they took longer to get it sorted in the end and still weren't reliable any earlier than my two  The thing is tots can't have any control until the nerves have 'connected' in the relevant bits (a little like fine motor-skills) its a physical thing :D Like Lorelei I left them without nappy or pants (at home) and it does seem to help as they don't have to struggle with getting them off :D
Hope this helps
Regards
Dill

My daughter was out of nappies at 10 months during the day and I just adopted the same method as you do for puppies, taking her to the potty (which was rather a grand affair) in the bathroom and using the loo myself and running the tap (a well known way of encouraging performance) on waking, after meals and at 2 hourly intervals. She only ever had one "accident" and that was entirely my fault, by 12 months she was totally reliable.
