Hope someone might be able to help me.  Have just bought some Fragaria for my dogs teeth (it helps remove tartar).  But it doesnt say on the bottle how it should be dispensed.  They are little tablets.....do they have to be given as they are or dissolved in the drinking water.  Thanking you for your help.

Hi Guest

Just give the little pills as they are :)  I give my two boys one a day.  If you are lucky, your dog will be like my older one and will run up to get given it when you say "Who wants his fraggle then?" :)  If you are unlucky, your dog will be like my younger, who doesn't take it willingly and when he has got it in his gob sneaks off and spits it out for the elder to hoover up

You could also put it in their water.

Thanks Oliver - I learn something new every day :D  I always thought homeopathic pillules had to be popped as they were into the mouth.  Not that the water tip would help with my two, since one will start to drink his water then give way to the other to let him drink it and wander over to drink the other's water!  Same with the Nylabones or toys, each always thinks the one the other has is the better :D

Put it in both waters, it will not hurt the one that does not need it.

Good thinking Oliver!  Thank you, I was a bit concerned about the older getting Fragariaed to the eyeballs; but if its harmless to have more, putting it in the water is probably the easiest way all round :)

Hi Lesley,
I bought some of these ages ago, but thought it was one a week - should it actually be one tablet a day then?

Hi Hilda

The best thing is to give one a day until you're happy with the way the teeth look and then give one a week for maintenance :)  Mine are back on one a day because I must confess I got lax with the maintenance dose and noticed a wee bit building up again :o

I've talked about Fragaria to my own dentist and he completely poo poos it!  I'm awfully prone to tartar build up due to the shape of my teeth and having ever so slobbery saliva glands, so I have told him that next time my teeth get scaled and polished (next week) I shall start taking Fragaria and he can judge if there is less tartar next time he sees me :D

Hi, i was adviced to give the tablets 20mins before food or water also not to touch the tablets with your hands but to place straight in the  mouth

If you find they work please let me know - I tried them for a few months and did not notice any difference - don't need them now though

Oh, thats good to know Oliver. I have the fragaria for my old cocker but have been unable to give him them as he can't be dosed with pills without putting it in food. I'll definitely add some to his water tomorrow.

You can also get Fragaria in a liquid form.  I put 5 or 6 drops a day in the drinking water.  What a difference it has made to the dogs teeth!!!

Where do you get the fragaria in liquid form? I tried the Dorwest Herb stand at SKC today but they didn't have any, nor is it on their website?

Fragaria liquid is available from Ainsworths.  It is Fragaria Vesica 6c that you want. The bottle comes with a dropper top so it is really quite easy to use straight onto the dogs' tongue.
I only use 1 drop per dog.
