If you want to change to another vet do you have to notify your vet or can you just swap to another.
I am not happy with mine he used to be really good but now all he's interested in is money, he seems to have forgotten about everything else.

When I moved house I registered with the new vet, supplied details of my old vet and the new vets arranged the transfer of the records

You can find a new vet then do one of 2 things, either ask the new vet to contact the old one and ask them to forward your records or call in the old vets and tell them you are changing and ask them to forward you records. Either way you pay the account and it is your choice where you spend it.

Very easy, go to the new vet say you want to register. I did this as my previous vet was all money and i could go elsewhere for exactly the same for less. Infact i'm glad i did as now i look forward to going to the vets as before we were crammed in a very small waiting room and you could only really fit about 5 chairs in and if a dog had problems with others then it was like take your own life into your hands as you couldn't get away. Now i think get better value for money and better service as the vets are just as friendly if not more and the waiting room is soooo big with a big V desk so you can distance yourselves if you need to.
I've changed vets 4 times in 5 years, finally found one who doesn't try to flog you stuff you don't want or need, gives great advice for free, and is very cheap, some of the others charged me £40.00 just to examine my dog that's not counting the treatment costs!
As far as I can remember as long as the dog is not undergoing some form of treatment then you can change vets whenever you like. We changed even tho' we weren't that far from our old vets, we were very happy with them but we changed purely because cicumstances made us. The dogs were very happy with our new vets. Curtesy of course says that you should tell your vets that you are changing. They shouldn't need an explanation. :)

I would give them an explanation anyway, even if its just a letter, that way they know why you have moved practices and it will enable them to make some changes for the better; positive/negative feedback if they dont know there is a problem then they wont be able to sort it :)
Plus I just love writing a good old complaint letter :D :D
