For all those that knew Dilita (Spanish Water Dog)  just thought that I'd write and advise you that I had to have her put to sleep last night.

She was 12 years old and still winning at shows up until January.  Last year at Manchester Champ. Show she won best bitch and reserve best of breed at the age of 11.  She had won best import/rare breed at the Leicestershire Gundog Society for the two years that the breed and other imports had been invited.  The National tomorrow was to be her last show, but unfortunately it wasn't to be.

I'd just like to thank everyone in Spanish, Bracco's, Koiker's etc. for the great times that we had at the shows over the last few years with you all.

I will be at the National tomorrow with her great, great grandson but I know that there will be a few tears shed.

Don't know you or Dilita personally Diane, but read about you with familiarity!  Your post pulled a few heartstrings - we had a golden oldie who was winning to the last!!
Bless you both! :p

Thanks Terri, as you can imagine there have been quite a few phone calls and tears today, so glad that I was the only one in my office and that not too many doctors came in!

Dilita was something special and a great ambassador of the breed.  I know that she'll be greatly missed by many

As you can imagine dad is quite upset but he's going to do a special little water feature in the front garden for her, as that's where she been laid to rest (at mum and dad's of course, not at mine).

Hope to see you soon.  Doubt that Anton will get anywhere he'll be too busy trying to make the audience or the judge accept a sloppy kiss off him.  He's certainly what I've needed over these last few weeks, he was so funny last night as he came to bed with me and put his front legs around my neck and gave me loads of big sloppy kisses.

Hope to see you soon, it's been way too long.

Diane

p.s.  How's the pregnancy going, sorry I've not asked you lately.

Diane,

Although I haven't met you yet at a show, I just wanted to say how sorry I am at your loss.   I have a golden oldie myself (She'll be 13 in a fortnight) so I know how precious everyday can be.
