becki
- By Charanda [de] Date 29.04.04 12:19 UTC
No idea how Monica got home and Jack said that the pup is a Great Dane!!
- By bobo [gb] Date 29.04.04 12:38 UTC
I thought it looked more like a mastiff, but am usually wrong....:)
- By chaliepud [gb] Date 29.04.04 13:14 UTC
DDB?
Sorry no idea how Monica got home, but does anyone know why Lynn in EE has been on crutches fos so long?
- By EMMA DANBURY [gb] Date 29.04.04 13:59 UTC
Bobo I too thought it was a Mastif.
As far as I know the other dog just tipped up at the back door.
- By Carla Date 29.04.04 15:02 UTC
No, its a Dane ;) very nice he is too - but young!!
- By Harriet [gb] Date 29.04.04 15:16 UTC
It's definitely a great dane, they were talking about names and briefly considered Scooby but plumped for Schmichael after the great dane who played for Man U. Danish person that is not dog. :-)
Vera, Jack, and Tyrone really ought to come on here for some dog training advice though, not that I watch Corrie THAT MUCH!! LOL (Who am I kidding)
- By archer [gb] Date 29.04.04 15:19 UTC
I thought he looked very young to be out and about...thought danes would be much bigger if about 11/12 weeks??

- By Carla Date 29.04.04 15:37 UTC

- By EMMA DANBURY [gb] Date 29.04.04 15:39 UTC
Harriet Chloe you are absolutely right he is a Dane.  I rmember the scooby conversation.  He is so beautiful and chunky.
- By ginastarr [ie] Date 29.04.04 17:35 UTC

- By archer [gb] Date 29.04.04 19:24 UTC
My pup(elkhound) is bigger than the dane on corrers and hes now only 12 weeks...so the pup dane can only be ,what,8/9 weeks at a guess??
Got to admit though...toooo cute!

- By Dill [gb] Date 30.04.04 01:29 UTC
I thought he was a mastiff puppy too, but then I was thinking of him as being older (12 weeks at least to be out and about) he's gorgeous.

I couldn't help feeling sad that in the stoyline he was already being passed around like a handbag that no-one really seemed to want :(   it worries me that so many soaps fail to show responsible ownership.  And I can't help wondering how long it'll be before the andrex effect kicks in with the public :(

DOOOM AND GLOOM    DOOOOOM AND GLOOM

Monica found her way home :D she was scratching on the door! yey!

I hate hate HATE the andrex adverts. I honestly think its sick how they put puppies in their adverts. A lot of people say ''Oh you know what i wan? wanna them... ah watz they called? ANDREX PUPPIES YEAH!''
The sad truth is they go out to a puppy farm and buy one and then abandon it when its not a cute little andrex puppy and is a full grown LABRADOR that needs walks, feeding and yes..poos. These are the idiots that shouldnt have dogs and I personally feel andrex should not advertise bog roll in the way they do.
- By bobo [gb] Date 01.05.04 11:49 UTC
Quite agree....very very irresponsible...it's frightening how thick SOME of the viewing public are....they would certainly not get any idea from those stupid adverts how different a fully grown lab, or any dog , will become from that cute pup just bounding along so gently....and would explain why so many people get labs thinking they are just lay-about beautiful living rugs.....
- By tanni [gb] Date 01.05.04 12:16 UTC
and now jack as given smeichal away to poor little chesney. what a great little actor he is i was nearly in tears last night !.:(
- By bobo [gb] Date 01.05.04 22:16 UTC
Me too!! I hope Les lets him stay and chucks out the truly revolting Cilla, and keeps pup too !! Does Tyrone know his pup's been given to Chesney??? Oh , and don't you hate that horrible Maya woman???Thinks she's sooo cool, when she's just stupid...
- By tanni [gb] Date 01.05.04 22:21 UTC
she's a complete nutter. her an dev deserve each other. never could stand him. lol.:)
- By kazz Date 01.05.04 23:17 UTC

It's not a public strret though is it? Not that I agree with such a dog being used at all, why couldn't they pop to Battersea and get a nice little Cross that could never be duplicated?
- By bobo [gb] Date 02.05.04 08:48 UTC
because then Manky Maya wouldn't have been able to moan about how much the pup had cost her....Dev....YUCK.....but not nearly as yucky as Silly Candice's new "man"....how camp and slimy does he look? Forget about Todd being gay, the other fellow's got to be.....and how does Kevin put up with barmy Sally....sorry ....off the subject....I wonder if they'll keep the pup in the show and show him growing up to his full size, that would be interesting in the little houses they have....and why doesn't Tyrone know how to housetrain his pup if he's so up on dogs....??
- By SaraN [gb] Date 02.05.04 11:45 UTC
''why couldn't they pop to Battersea and get a nice little Cross that could never be duplicated?''
And you think that would stop puppy farms trying to sell the new breed called ''CORRIE DOGS''?

At least there showing how much work a puppy can be and there not just showing the 'cutze wutzie' side of it unlike the andrex adverts
- By chaliepud [gb] Date 02.05.04 13:13 UTC
It is very unlikely that any puppy farm could replicate a cross, particularly one that doesn't resemble any other breed too closely.  (They could use my bitch!)  It is unreasonable to expect any soap to not portray real life, pets and all, we can only hope they do the best they can, and if that means highlighting the number of dogs that need rescuing, then I for one, think it is a great opportunity.
As for showing what hard work a pup can be, that is all well and good if you can assume that only intelligent people with common sense are watching, but the truth is that people refuse to think about any of the practical issues about owning a dog, but only of the cute factor and status it will give them, oh, and the kids want one.....
- By chair260 [gb] Date 02.05.04 18:04 UTC
I think Andrex people should keep their little puppies but have an overweight, slobbery, older dog, with them, maybe showing the puppy with a child and then show a teenager with this slobbery dog, looking unhappy about the dog, so people would know that these lovely puppies don't stay that way for long and then take away the dog thing aafter a while. Or maybe they could use the andrex to pick up some of the poo!
- By Harriet [gb] Date 02.05.04 22:28 UTC
Yes, they could go 1 step further by showing the then cute child as a now kevin teenager who leaves skiddies in your nice clean toilet and only flushes when the mood takes him. Also screaming at the top of his lungs for somebody to get him a new Andrex because he failed to notice that the toilet roll holder needed a refill before he got down to business. (his Dad used the last of it but failed to put a refill on because he is a man and doesn't have this ability) Then cut to Mum gagging at the stench as she passes a fresh Andrex to kevin on the throne. All this while the full grown Lab enters the kitchen covered in mud and shakes it off splattering the doors and walls. :P
- By SaraN [gb] Date 03.05.04 21:22 UTC
... and then does a GIANT poo the floor whilst eating the roast dinner! :D The tittle could be written in bog roll saying ''ANDREX. for all your house hold needs.'' :D
Harriet, you should work for andrex :D
- By mygirl [us] Date 03.05.04 21:31 UTC
Can't wait for when Les is watching TV and the dog will be sat there bum on chair and legs on the floor like they do. :D
Our girl wasn't that small at 12 weeks even i struggled to lift her at that age lol, and that saggy skin ohhhhhh it makes my heart melt!!
- By michelled [gb] Date 06.05.04 14:07 UTC

- By Val [gb] Date 06.05.04 14:16 UTC
It's only a story Michelle!! :D  :D  :D  :D
- By michelled [gb] Date 06.05.04 15:06 UTC
is it???

Bless you!! :p
- By kath_barr [gb] Date 06.05.04 17:09 UTC
:D :D

That reminds me of the time Deidre was in prison and there was the big "campaign" to get her out. Someone wrote to our local paper saying that "the judge was wrong to convict her and if he'd watched Coronation St. then he would have *known* she was innocent"!!  :D

TV is is so much more then a box :D
- By tanni [gb] Date 08.05.04 21:23 UTC
i remember chesney from the hovis ad. his mum says why dont you go out and plant the seeds from the crusty breadroll. he says *dont be stupid its pouring down*.are u sure he's the kid on the werthers ad????
- By kath_barr [gb] Date 09.05.04 07:13 UTC
His real name is Sam Aston. He was definately in the Hovis advert but not sure about the Werthers, it could possibly have been one of his brothers (he has 8 brothers/sisters some are in acting). He was in the Bill playing Gary Best's nephew. In Corrie St. his brother Joseph played Tommy Duckworth and his sister Emily played Becky Palmer.

- By Harriet [gb] Date 09.05.04 07:23 UTC
Kath, who was Becky Palmer? I don't remember who that character was.
PS I always thought the werther's kid had blond hair, maybe there were 2 ads
- By kath_barr [gb] Date 09.05.04 08:40 UTC
Becky and her mum lived with Des Barnes for a while, I couldn't remember myself till I read this..

http://www.corrie.net/profiles/characters/palmer_rebecca.html

if you click on her mums (Claire) profile it gives the storyline. :)

- By Harriet [gb] Date 09.05.04 08:56 UTC
Oh yes!! I do have a vague memory of them, did she end up with Des or did they split? seem to remember Des died, was it Tommy Duckworth's Mum with him at the end? Now I know I'm getting old everything is getting muddled. LOL Gosh you can really tell they are brother and sister though! she looks like Chesney with long hair! LOL
- By kath_barr [gb] Date 09.05.04 11:37 UTC
They must have split up because Des went with a few others (including Tommy's mum and barmaid Samantha) then he married Natalie (the one who went with Kevin) Natalie was with Des when he died in hospital after being beaten up by druggies looking for Natalies son.   Blimey they do all get around a lot don't they :D

- By BoxerLuv [gb] Date 09.05.04 16:07 UTC
who's roly?
- By Harriet [gb] Date 09.05.04 16:31 UTC
Roly was a huge poodle that belonged to Den Angie and Sharon.
- By BoxerLuv [gb] Date 09.05.04 17:00 UTC
sorry to say it,but i'm not old enough to remember :)
- By Harriet [gb] Date 09.05.04 17:05 UTC
Now I'm jealous. :D
- By Lorelei [gb] Date 09.05.04 17:44 UTC
Didnt Roly get run over and Wellard go walkabout? Not very nice endings for the dogs. Speaking of soap dogs, why do the farmers and gamekeepers on the Archers have so little to do with dogs? Despite having sheep and a shoot, Brian Aldridge dosent have dogs and I havent heard William Grundy training a gundog. David and Ruth Archer dont have dogs either. The most Ive heard is Alistair and Shula getting a rescue to guard the stables, and Oliver Sterlings hounds, with Edward Grundy having a kennel job.... mind you no self respecting dog would have anything to do with Matt Crawford. Is this a result of the agrcultural story lines being diluted on the programme or what?
- By BoxerLuv [gb] Date 09.05.04 19:38 UTC
Did Wellard go walk abouts? I thought Gus had him.
- By Lorelei [gb] Date 09.05.04 20:14 UTC
Thank goodness, I was worried about poor Wellard :)
- By SaraN [gb] Date 10.05.04 16:28 UTC
I thought that too BUT Gus is in the flat now and there is no Well' ard with him?? Wheres wellard?? :(
