Ringo is 21 months old.He is black and tan, about 10" tall.We would like to put him to stud .However we have never done anything like this before and would appreciate some advice.Ringo has pedigree but is not KC registered. He is however the most beautiful little dog you've ever seen.

Many thanks.

Firstly ive never bred a dog but.....

1. Why would you want to breed a non KC registered dog? it will mean the puppies can't be KC registered and will not be woth as much + it will be a lot harder to find a suitable mate as most people would want a KC registered stud
2. Has your dog had all of the relevant health tests........although i believe proper hip and eye tests and scoring can only be done if the dog is KC registered
3.You dog would really need to be proven at shows, which again i think the dog needs to be KC registered to enter decent shows to prove himself
4. I really wouldnt advise it, you are responsibel for any puppies your dog produces, do you know anything about dogs that go well together, what line is your dog? what were the parents/grandparents like? Just because your dog looks nice doesnt guarantee the pups will

Sure your dog is lovely but to tell the truth, if it is not KC registered it may as well be a mongrel, as it is not possible to know what it's background is and therefore no one who loves the breed or who has any experience would consider breeding from or to a dog who's background can't be checked. How could you know if the union was suitable, you could well be producing pups with all sorts of problems. And there is not such breed as a Miniature Yorkshire Terrier, they are just Yorkshire Terriers and should be about 5 to 7lb in weight.

we all think our dogs are the most beautiful ever....even if its got 3 legs and no teeth!!A yorkshire terrier is a yorkshire terrier...no size definitions so I don't mean to be rude but if you cannot give your dog its proper breed name I doubt very much if you would know if it was a good example of the breed.
The trick is to show your dog to persuade others to think so to but since your dog is not KC reg you won't be able to.
Instead of adding to the hundreds of thousands of dogs in rescue centres keep your dog as a pet.
