This may be a daft question, but (I'll ask it anyway), when bathing your dogs for a show or otherwise, do you also use conditioner as well as shampoo?   It's not something I've ever considered before as I have a short haired dog, but after reading that one of the 'top men' in the breed always does, what does anyone else think and/or use?

Depends on the breed and coat type.  We always used some form of human conditioner on the Afghans before shows :)

Yes me too, American Cockers and Irish Setters, conditioner is a must on Long siky hair and feathering.
However I'm not sure I would bother on a short coat like Weimaraners, GSP, and the like. Also it's probably not recommended on Wire coated breeds. So, the answer is, it depends upon the coat type. Ditto, to blondebird88.

I use conditioner on the Pugs for a pre show bath, and also when the coat needs a little help to come out.  and obviously, always when doing the Yankees!
bye

Hi Sarah,
I use a seperate conditioner aswell as the shampoo. I use evening primrose oil shampoo and then condition them aswell and they both have really glossy coats at the moment.
