Just wondering how long it takes to get a dog from the RSPCA once the home visit is successful? I have a friend who is really really excited about getting a dog and hes just waiting for the home check and wondering how long after the home check it will be until he gets his new 4 legged friend (assuming they pass it and i cant see any reason why they shouldn't)

There should be no need for a delay unless the dog still requires vaccinations or neutering  for what ever reason.
I get back to the RSPCA straightaway after Ive done a check and as far as i know the dog is homed pretty soon after but some RSPCA centres do work slightly differently to others.
Fingers crossed for your friend and her new doggy friend :)

hopefully it shouldnt't take long as the dog has already been neutered, microchipped, wormed, vaccinated and treated for fleas... so i cant think of much else that they would need to do

Hi ,we rescued Lola from the RSPCA almost a year ago,we all had to go and see her before we could bring her home ,just to make sure we all got along ,i first saw her on the monday and bought her home on the saturday ,they did a home check, neutered her microchipped & she had all of her jabs within that week , so allthough it felt like a month that we waited ,it was quite quick ,i went everyday to take her for a walk & just got to know her ,hope all goes well with your friend ,i have never regreted a single moment with Lola (did i just say that ??) just remember they need a lot of patience and love , give these & you have a friend forever ,i am sure they know they are special our little heathen certainly does!! (lol) good luck Sue & Lola xx

Glad to hear you are happy with Lola, my last dog was from the RSPCA but she died 2 years ago at 16 and back when we got her they didnt do a home check but we had to wait until she was 8 weeks old as she was an abandonned puppy. They have been to see the dog and taken him for walks and generally seen how far hes come with his training etc.
