Was just looking through some adverts and once again saw a litter of young pups (quite a large litter ) advertised as 'all show quality'.
Just wondered how many breeders on this board have evr produced a whole litter which was all show quality...when you advertise show quality what do you mean??...that the pup should/will do ok/well at champ level or that it could enter open shows and maybe place??
Just wondered
Thanks

Breeders are lucky if they get one show PROSPECT out of a litter. And that means real potential for championship. If someone advertises all show quality, they're probably lying.

I dont think you can guarantee any puppy being of show quality unless you keep them all until they are at least 6 months old.  Perhaps this advert that you saw meant the pups were 6 months of age and in the breeders opinion of Show quallity.  Dont think so myself......but you neverknow.  Wish I could tell which puppies of mine were show quality when they go to their new homes at 8 weeks.  Perhaps "Show prospect" would have been a better phrase but then so much can go wrong.

I saw a new wesbite made by someone with my breed ,

Front page says things like

" champion pedigrees"  100% ****** ( affix of a top kennel)  "we only breed when we want to keep something to show" etc etc ..  Person has never shown a dog in their life. I have no doubt there are hundreds like that.

i hope the advertiser realises that if the pups are bought for showing and they don't turn out to be 'Show Quality' the breeder can then be sued and/or have the dogs returned for a full refund!
