Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Do I have a Moulting Problem??

Hi, I have a 14 month old Basset Hound who I think moults A LOT. I have never owned a dog before, and whilst I am aware that dogs obviously do moult, some breeds more than others, I am not sure if the amount my dog moults is quite right either.
I have laminated flooring throughout the downstairs, and I need to sweep the floor at least twice a day. He can literally sit on the floor for a few minutes and when he gets up there is a pile of new hairs sitting there!! I brush him daily to try and shift the loose hair but still this happens. Some days are definitely worse than others, but always there is hair everywhere.
Can someone please advise if this is perfectly normal for a Basset Hound and I will stop fretting. Also if it is normal, does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can slow down the process of my wooden floor turning into a carpet :), as I find a brush useless, and always hoover every inch of the floor with the hoover nozzle, which takes a long time. I then swiffer over it to catch the odd strand that is left.

Sounds about normal for a short-haired breed. It happens more if the dog's environment is too warm (ie - the temperature we weedy people like to keep our houses!)
:)
