I was wondering how you could go about getting a stud book number as I have just collected a 8 week old Cavalier King Charles, who i would like to breed with myself and to put him up for stud, I have looked round the Kennel Club website but I cant find a form to register them as stud dogs.

Any help would be aprecciated!

Thankyou

The Kennel Club doesn't have a stud register. The usual way people  get to hear about dogs available at stud is by seeing them at shows and talking to the owner. So take your pup to ringcraft, when he's old enough start showing him, and if he's good enough to breed from people will ask you if they can use him. If he isn't, they won't.

The Kennel Club does not have a stud dog register

You get a stud book number by successfully showing him at championship shows & winning a Challenge Certificate, reserve Challenge Certificate, 1st, 2nd. or 3rd in the Limit or Open Classes or gain a Junior Warrant with your dog which is not easy in Cavaliers

Plus he will need to be heart & eye tested clear each year

Then you will have to wait for people to like him & his breeding so much that they want to use him on their heart & eye tested clear bitches.

Also the bloodlines need to be checked for Syringomyelia sufferers or carriers.
