Hopefully my cocker is three weeks pregnant. Yesterday evening she had a bit of an upset tummy (good sign perhaps?), nothing untoward but I gave her rice for supper and put her in her kennel. About an hour later she was barking (unusual), I went to see what was up and she needed letting out much to her relief. Concerned that she would bark in the night and would a) disturb the neighbours and b) soil her kennel which she has never done, I found a baby monitor to put in her kennel with the other bit next to my bed. I was quite happy that she had settled down and was confident that I could hear her breathing softly.
In the night, I woke up to the sound of a baby crying! Not my dog, but a baby! I guess the monitor was picking up from elsewhere, no babies live very near to me. I checked the dog and she was fine then this morning my young son came in and was very amused when we sat and listened to this baby playing happily in his cot, gurgling away. At 7.20 his parents alarm went off, we heard them getting up, flushing the loo, discussing lunch, who was going to get baby up, he'd lost his dummy, etc!!! Thank goodness that's all they decided to do first thing in the morning! Little did they know we were listening!!
OMG! I can't believe it really, they would be horrified if they knew, not that I know who they are. I would like this system to work for us, so does anyone have any handy hints? It only seems to give a reception on one of the two channels.
Sorry I've no advice but your post made me laugh. :D
It also reminded me of when I'd just given birth to my second son at home. The following day my baby was in his cot in our room so we had the monitor on. My sister-in-law and her husband were staying and the midwife came to check the baby and me so we went upstairs. We had a long conversation about all manner of intimate things then I suddenly remembered the monitor!

My sister-in-law said they'd switched it off as soon as they heard us go in the room but I'll never be sure they weren't listening. (blush!)

Reminds me of my elderly aunt :) We bought her a wander-phone when they first came out. Her neighbours in the flat upstairs could hear her telephone conversations on their radio :D (We had to take it back and change it, but it was rather funny :D )

My daughter had a baby 3 weeks ago and she is living with us at present, a baby monitor is plugged into their room and the other was in the dining room, my son who is 16 obviously didn't realise and took the phone into her room and made a call to his girlfriend! Didn't realise he loved her so much but we couldn't stop listening! The fact he shouldn't have rang her till after 6 gave me the opportunity to inform him we heard every word! one very embarrassed 16 yr old! What meanies we are!
when i was younger i discovered that i could tune my radio in to pick up the cordless phone in our house - this lead to me listening in on many amusing phonecalls between my teenage sister and her then boyfriend :D (including him singing wonderwall by oasis to her lol)

Hi,
Don't think you can, with my baby monitor I used to hear a couple and their baby all the time, had to turn it off in the end when I heard her saying "and arn't you a big boy" thought it was the baby she was talking to untill he aid "yes I am". turned it off after that and stopped using it, thought if we could hear them maybe they could hear us :)
