Hi all. We went to take the dogs to Plessey Woods today but we got a bit lost!! We drove around Morpeth way for 2 hours but we ended up going to Seaton Sluice beach!!
Could any1 please tell me directions to Plessey Woods?

you need to head towards Blyth for plessy woods.

just thought if you were going around morpeth area you should of gone through a little village called pegswood, and followed a sign to a place called Bothal, this is a brill place to walk dogs, you walk alongside the river where there is a salmon jump and stepping stones and places for the dogs to run and play in amongst all the trees and shrubs etc. and then if you went up the hill as bothal is in a small valley you would of come onto a road that took you into Ashington you could of walked along side the river wansbeck there.

From Wallsend (where I used to live!). A19 to Moor Farm roundabout, A189 Spine Road to Blyth/ Cramlington turnoff (3 Horse Shoes roundabout) Turn left here Cramlington/ Morpeth to Plessy Checks roundabout, turn right at the roundabout over the bridge (towards Bedlington) take the left hand fork in the road over the brigde at Hartford and Plessy woods car park is on the left. Take care because te parking charges , pay and display have recently gone up.

Hope this helps

Blimey, do you all live near me? I'm about 1 mile from Bothal as the crow flies, I've walked in Plessey Woods many times, I'm within walking distance of the Wansbeck Riverside Park Ashington. I shop in Morpeth and I work at the hospital in Ashington. Have any of you walked on the beach at Cambois?

My favourite beach just has to be Embleton, OK it is a little further North,  but so quiet and so beautiful, with Dunstanburgh castle at one end,
never seem to see any more than 3 other peole on the whle bach, whenever I visit. Maybe I should not have mentioned it, you might now all flock there!  I am also lucky in that I live about a mile from Cleadon Hills, which are a great dog walking area, and never get too busy either

I used to live near Cleadon Hills too! Mam still does. I used to walk my BC there when I was a kid and drank at the White Horse when I was a little older. I used to walk miles along the Leas too, the excuse was to "walk the dog" but in reality I used to meet a boyfriend who lived near the New Crown!

Oh the memories!  I used to "go to Badminton club"  aka underage drinking at The Brittania!

Went there too! Also remember while in VIth form having an end of term afternoon drink in the White Ensign (closest pub to school!) Some of the teachers from the Boys school (Harton) were in the other room. We sent in a pint of Guiness for them with enough straws to go around! That was pretty daring, cos our headmistrees was strict, she even put a VIth former in detention once for being spotted in the street holdong hands with her boyfriend and a younger girl got the same treatment for being caught in a newsagents buying sweets while in uniform!!
Ah those were the days!!! And before anyone asks, this was during the 1970's not the Dark Ages!

Sounds very familiar, although I didnt venture to the White Ensign until I was at College!  We used to get Detentions for being outside school, in uniform without hats on, so the local Comprehensive kids used to take great joy on standing on a bridge over the route to the buss staqtion, chucking sticks to knock our hats off!  Also for eating in the street, and I dont think anyone ever ventured the hand holdikng bit - dread to think what the punishment would have been!

But getting back on topic, if the rain clears Junionr, Jerry, Jennifer and I will be on the hills today, followed by some lead training in the park - both pups were so bad at training last night - Jennifer put on an act like she had never been on a lead in her life before, shrieking, spinning, then trying to callop flat out, nose to the floor, while choking herself - and she is entered for ist show on the 23rd!

I need to do some serious training with one of mine too! We will be at NEW&PBS at Gosforth Park next month and he hasn't been to a show in over a year! What I realy need is someone to put on a special class, Veteran dog with novice handler!!!

Do you think I could find a class for "Screaming puppy who flings herself on the ground"?  Jennifer would be sure to win, along with "Puppy who tries to gallop frantically while refusing to lift nose from floor"! ;)
bye
