I have a year old bull Mastiff bitch. She is fantastic in every way however She rarely gets up to greet me when I get up in the morning or come in (she does sometimes). After a few minutes she gets up but I have never come across this before. My other dogs have always greeted me tails wagging and excited. I wonder is this in 'the breed' or unique to her? I do not mind at all if she continues doing this, but wonder why she is slow to rouse and often continues sleeping and snoring!  She loves affection and is affectionate and gentle. She lives in the house with us and sleeps in the kitchen. She was a rescue dog I got her at nine months. She loves playing and seems happy and healthy. She has required some eye operations. We visit the vet regularly and other than the eye problem she is in good health.
I would really welcome your opinions.

Yep, must be a 'bull' thing - 4 bulldogs in our house, one will greet me if she's awake, others continue sleeping, might open an eye if I'm lucky, usually get up when they feel like it or when they hear the microwave defrosting their food. lol

Whippets are the same too, they sleep all day! I was told by other whippets owners that this is the norm, was relieved to hear it as I thought they has ME or something. :-P Nice to know other breeds are just as lazy.

My Cairn hates early mornings, it's now 8.30 and he's STILL snoozing happily (as well as my husband, it has to be said) zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

My Cairn could sleep for England.  Great watchdog though ... as long as she's awake. :-)
