Its such a relief, isnt it?  Libby was mated yesterday, day 16 too!  However, we had to go with a different dog, as she was scaring the life out of Keeper, at one point flinging herself on her back and kicking him in the face with her hind paws while yelling all the time - she always was a drama queen!  So used Ambrose, who is the Sire of her previous (one and only litter), and she was not rouble at all!  Godd luck with the prospective litter!  With a bit of lluck both of our litter should arrive at the same time.

Hi Gwen , Good luck with the mating. :-)

Do you think it is because we have them so domesticated now :-) that they make so much a fuss? !!

My litter girl that I mated made an awful fuss when I took her to the stud.  I couldn't believe it. She was yelping etc and the dog was not even touching her LOL.  She would run around flirt like mad , stand for him to romance her but as soon as we would hold her ( just gently she went mad). She is top dog in my house and she didn't like not being in control I think.

She was certainly ready as she would have stood if I had let her for my dog that I own but do not use at stud.  ( testing the water so to speak as the stud was several hundred miles away)

She was fine once the mating did finally take place etc but was she ever a little "bitch" and made an incredible fuss.

I think with some of them problems arise when we have "babied" them.  My trouble with Libby is just that she never does anything easily!  hd to pull her from the show ring after Junior due to bad behaviour, which was disappointing as she won everytime out!  But when it got to trying to head butt the judge then back flip off the table we said enough is enough! :)  She is very much an alpha bitch, but was prepared to submit to mating with Ambrose, who is a very efficient and self confident stud, but seemed to twig straight away that that Keeper was a younger, less experienced male, and took great pleasure in trying to scare him silly !!

LOL at the back flipping.

Little sods at times.  Mine rule the roost in this house I can tell you.

I came home one day last week to my hubby sound asleep on one chair and 3 westies sound asleep on the back of 2 others ( luckily it is leather and cleans well). I had a right quiet chuckle.

You want to see my girl run if I put my hand within a foot of the themometer LOL..

we are booked for a scan on June 1st, so until then its just hope! We had to gently hold Jazz too, as she was not sure what to do, but once tied she was smiling constantly :D

Good luck with your litter

Emma :)

Hi Michelle

she will be 4 weeks, as she was mated on the 1st May, Friday 28th May would have been the perfect day to scan but it is bank holiday weekend and Barbara is also busy with people going to see her on their way back from Bath Champ show which is also on that weekend, so we both decided that the Tuesday would be better ;)

Glad to hear that Ruby and pup are doig well :D

Emma :)
