can anyone help me with some information please

i have a red/white boxer who is 2 years old next month and although she is a family pet, and loved by everyone in our neighbourhood, we would like to breed her
she goes to the university of edinburgh to get her heart checked and the following this the local vet to get her hips scored
can anyone give me anymore information about breeding my lovely female
she is a small boxer, red all over apart from her white socks and underbody and a small white flash on her nose

just now my little darling is on her second false pregnancy and has not even sniffed a stud
i have been advised by my vet either to take a litter of pups off her or have her dressed

can anyone please give some advice
thanks

Dressed ????

I presume you mean mated

Breeding from a bitch will not stop phantom pregnancies in your bitch, they are quite normal in wild dogs as the extra milk is used to rear the Alpha bitches puppies

There is only one sure way to stop phantoms & that is to have your bitch spayed

There are lots of unwanted Boxers in rescue so boxers are not is short supply

I think dressed means spayed?

As MM has said the only way to prevent phantom pregnancies is to have your bitch spayed.

Why do you wish to risk the life of your bitch, which is what you would be doing if you breed from her?

There are plenty of very experienced Boxer breeders producing puppies from top quality dogs. Leave the breeding to them and enjoy your girl as the family pet you purchased her to be.

Having a litter won't stop her having false pregnancies. Even after a litter she will still have them after each season. The only cure is spaying.
