I have promised myself in the not too distant future I will have another FC; just love them.

I would quite like to get back into showing again, but only did a bit of it with the FC I had in my younger years...I then moved into hound showing and know very little about FC showing lines.  The bitch I had was from the Belsud kennels (not sure if it's still going but understand Mary Grimes, the breeder, both showed and did field trials) so not sure if I had a bitch that was more working or showing lines or even if there is a difference in FC's as their is in Labs.  My mother also had 2 Belsud bitches, both ex-working bitches and utterly utterly gorgeous.  Anyway, off the point! :-)

So what sort of lines would I really want to be considering if I wanted to return to the showring with a FC?  Or is that an impossible question to answer?

Mary Grimes is still there with her Belsud's, Jean Griffiths with the Riversflight dogs, Brenda Philips Exclyst, Joan Rudkin Kenjo, Barbara Harkin Fenstorm and not forgetting of course Jo and Richard Hewison Casblaidd. Most of the old names are still there. Some are now almost retired such as Joan Chester-Perks Tonggreen but there are some newer breeders breeding nice dogs so there are plenty to choose from. You could not do better than go along to a show and see the dogs for yourself.

Best wishes, John

my lines go back to belsud, casblaidd, wizardwood, fernstorm, the old names, but just got a swedish champ dog over who has mated wispa to bring in new blood.into the gene pool.

theres is new up  and coming younger breeders with the old line behind there dogs, that show and work their dogs,

like john said if you go to a show with a catloge and look at the fcr and see you lines you like, first.

tell us where about in the uk you are then i can give you detail on the shows that are coming up plus in may there a couple of working test too.

Hi,
Mary is still going and breeding her dogs. She hasn't moved either, so you should have no trouble contacting her. I know that Richard and Patricia Pendrill have a beautiful working flatcoat which is a Belsud, that is due to have puppies shortly.
Apart from Jo who is here there is also Terri on this board who breeds and I think has a litter on the way from a swedish champion.
Email me privately if you want to have Mary's telephone number

Hello

Mary has two litters at the moment, each by one of our dogs out of bitches which she bred that belong to other people.    Think they may be spoken for, though.

(Gosh - what dreadful English!!!)

I also know of other litters, one particularly nice one, which may have pups available; I'm not sure, and also one Belsud bitch (gorgeous!!!)  who will be due in about 6 week's time.

Thank you all so much for the info.  I live in Hampshire so if you know of any up and coming shows, that would be great.

You would be most likely to meet up with Mary at Windsor Championship dog show at the begining of July. I''l look up the date and reply later
