I'm going up to SKC with my boxer next month and am not really sure about what to do when I arrive. Will they send passes through before the show or do I need any other sort of identification for my dog to get in? Will I have to buy a benching chain or can a lead be attached? Do dogs have to be on their benches all of the time or would I be able to keep her at the side of the ring so that I can watch the judging?

Passes are usually sent through the post and if they don't arrive you can go to the show secretary on the day and get duplicates made up. You will be assinged a bench but you will have to prodive your own benching chain / lead. We usually take a foldaway crate with us and put our bitch in that on the bench or by the rngside. As far as I know you are allowed to keep your dog at the ringside to watch judging as long as it is under control!

You should get passes before the show (about 10 to 14 days) you will not need any other identification but may be asked the kennel name of your dog, You need to attach the dog to the bench so it and anyone or their dog is safe and a benching chain is the easy way but anything can be used. You are supposed to have the dog on the bench but in theory most people do have them at ring side, but keep her out of the way when the males are being shown don't let her be a distraction to the males being shown by sitting right at the ring side. Most benches at most show are close to the ring so you can watch and keep an eye on your benches but if this is not possible you have to either stay with the dog on the bench or take her with you. Whilst the bitches are being shown there should be no problem in having her with you at ring side.

With some breeds you can put their crate in the allocated space too :)
