As everyone will be aware we have had some good warm sunny weather over the weekend, people just dont seem to get the message about dogs in cars, just the other day i was walking one of my dogs i look after, and there was a rugby function on, cars everywhere.
I was walking through, and looked into this lovley lexus :P, but was shocked to find this longhaired GSD, panting and looking really unhappy, the windows were slighty opened, but this car was directly in the sun.
I jotted down the number plate etc, i was going to ring the RSPCA, then the owner came along, and i explained about dogs dying in cars, she looked at me like i was mad!!
She said she had only left the dog for 20 mins!
I dont think people realise the dangers, more has to be done, to make people more aware.
It doesnt take long, for a dog to die in a car.
GRR it really angers me, people just coem out in the nice weather, and dont give a thought for the dogs, who have coats on!
I think until there is some kind of advert in the national press, or a dog dies so its in the news then no-one will take notice. At the weekend I went to the New Forest with Prince and was walking round and I saw in one small car park at least 4 dogs in cars with partially open windows and I don't mean 8 or 9 inches more like 1 inch every window. When we went back to our car which was left under a tree for 2 hours it was stifling inside - even with all the windows rolled down Prince (in his seatbelt) was trying to stick his head out the window on the way home to get the cooler air from outside for half the journey home.;-p
A good idea might be, especially now there are quite a few bank holiday weekends; for some one with a loud speaker to go round some of the organised events eg country shows , beaches and parks and pointing out that dogs in cars is not good. May be have some leaflets and photos of what happens to hand out or may be get some leaflets printed and ask local newsagents to stuff them inside peoples papers before there delivered.

Hi All,
Some so called Dog lovers could do with a kick up the preverbial.
I was at W.E.L.K.S on friday and it was baking, and yes you know what im gonna say.
As usual they had to announce that dogs had been left in cars in that heat.
Why oh Why do they do it???????????

There was a few at WELKS at the weekend , I was there on Sunday and it was terrible how long they were being left. 2 especially . The lady on the end of the Mic was really going to town as she had called for the owners about 20 times and nobody was coming forward. I am sure one was a GSD and the other a Mastiff. It was 24 c what gets into people to leave any animal in a car.
I am still recoving from a sunburnt head as it was just so hot.

I know what you mean i see it only too often but i did see a better example at the supermarket of all places, the pooch was in the back of an estate car the back 2 windows were tinted, and the boot was open with a well secured dog gate keeping him in, he had clean water too, he seemed ok but i am sure it still might have been better to leave him at home while going shopping
