Do you all use to plan your jouneys, I use AutoRoute 2000 at the moment but find it a bit tiresome and wish to seek advice before I buy a more upto date one. Thanks Jackie H

I always use The AA route planner on their website. It's a bit slow at the moment but it's alot better during the day and it's free!!!!! :D :D :D It's easy to use and very upto date. I mainly use it to get directions from one town to another, I haven't used it for specific places within those towns, IYKWIM.

I know I am biased :D but I agree. You can't beat the AA. They have planned door to door routes for me from home to all over Europe and they are very accurate. Not only for routes but list approx. journey times etc. I wouldn't trust anyone else ;-)

I like the AA too. We went to the South of France for the first time a couple of years ago and drove there (very daring for us and our two best friends - no kids to take, old enough to leave behind so on our own at last!!) and we sailed there with the AA map and didnt get lost - a major feat for my husband and his friend I can tell you LOL. Glad to know you can get free ones from them as we paid for ours then. Gina

we use "mapquest .co .uk " which is free
- By julie white [us] Date 03.04.02 20:41 UTC
we use mapquest as well, it's much better than autoroute which doesn't recognise the area I live in!

Green flag and RAC also offer the same free service on their websites. I prefer the green flag one as (I presume) it's not as well known as the other two so it is a lot quicker. Gives the same door to door service, distance and time etc.

I use multimap.com.
Never failed me yet.

We use Multimap too. Not only does it produce very good directions and maps, it also produces aerial photos and historical maps etc. Very interesting site.

I use Multi-map and AA - I like multimap because it takes you to the exact place (especially if you have gone in via BT's Directory enquires as they ask you if you would like directions.) I generally print off two or three versions at different sizes

Still giving them all a try asking for the same three routes from them all. Think we should all get together and produce one for dog showing people - You should be able to type in home and then the address from the front of the schedual and in a flash it should come back with a route telling where you can stop for the dog to pee where you can stop for yourself where to park when you get there and what the food is like. :) ;) ;) Jackie H

Oh! and what about what time your class will be on
- By Kerioak Date 05.04.02 07:10 UTC
And where the traffic jams will be <g>

What you need is satnav then Jackie :D The AA have satellite navigation in all of their vehicles now. They never have to use a map book again because this womans voice tells them exactly where to drive ~ as they drive  "She" can also *see* snarl ups on the road ahead and redirect him as and when needed. "She" points out local hotels, hostelries and hospitals etc as requested to do so. The only thing "she" doesn't do is iron his shirts and walk his bl**dy dog for him :P
I understand "she" costs around £500 and also comes in several different languages ;-) I wonder if they do one that sounds like Mel Gibson *sighs*

Thanks for this. Loki ate the autoroute CD last night. Left it crunched up in bits on the dining room floor. I panicked, but as I was rushing for the vets phone number, Al pieced it all together and realised she hadn't swallowed any. :D

Will I have to stop calling her The Towel Hound now?
- By climber [gb] Date 12.04.02 09:11 UTC
Perhaps this should be under pet peevs
Now I can sit in the front of the car & do the navigating:D
- By 9thM [gb] Date 12.04.02 09:18 UTC
Ooooh, she's an idiot I wouldn't let her navigate. I'd let Grumpy Collie do it, but she'd probably want to drive too (and do a quick spark plug and oil change once we got there).

Plus. If I gave TH an OS Map, we'd end up in Slobber-by-Dribble :D
