Hi
Can anyone tell me when a female springer spaniel is mature as i will be spaying her but i donot want to do it to early.she is 7 months old now and think she is just starting her first season as we have just got new neighbours who have an intact male GSD who has been barking and jumping up at the fence to try and get over for the last couple of days he also seems quite aggressive and as they have no intention of neutering him it looks like i will have to do my dog instead

I would say 18 months to 2 years.

Have you checked her vulva? Although not impossible, 7 months is quite young for the first season, if she is in season she'll most likely be swollen, and bleeding slightly. Take a white tissue, and wipe her vulva gently, it will be apparent if she is in season.

My 8 month old springer is currently in season.  I'm aiming to get her spayed around 18 months - 2 years.
