Hi all,
I just thought I would let you all know how Sheena is doing. Her progress is still speeding forward. She now has concured Sears. The only problem I am now finding is suddenly she is having a really hard time walking on slick surfaces. She slipes and slides all over the place. She never had problems with these surfaces before. It has just been happening this past week. Any suggestions as to what I can do about it? Why it might be happening?? Will it stop?? I can tell she hates it. She will walk into other stores with rougher floors and have no problem but if one has a slick surface, there she goes sliding around and she tries so hard to keep her footing. I am a little worried she might become scared of these surfaces because for the first time she is pulling me to get out of stores that have these surfaces. She will walk in no problem but once she feels the surface she seems to want to leave. She will still slipe and slide forward if I tell her to but you can tell she is not happy about it and that she is trying her heart out. Any ideas would be a big help.
We have been working really hard on her drop retrieve here at home and for the first time we did it in a couple of stores, at the park and during her dog class. Each time she immediately retrieved what I dropped and sat on my foot which is her cue for me to look at her. Then she tilts her head back so I don't have to bend over to take what she has. She used to shake her head a lot with the object in her mouth trying to do a catch it if you can game. But when she realized I ignored her when she did this and her fetch game ended she quickly stopped. People who watched her were amazed that her retieve was so high. It didn't matter the amount of distraction she just wanted to play the retieve game. I was so proud of her. In Sears one of the managers even asked us to show him a couple of times. So I dropped my keys or purse. And even with her unstead feet she still retrieved. He was amazed. He watched us for 20 minutes as my husband looked for a tool in his department. Children ran by laughing, people were shouting and she just lied in the aisle at my side not caring. He told us to bring her back any time. She didn't make one peep. We still haven't had any refusals of entry once people see how well behaved she is. The biggest thing we get is they don't believe she is only 4 months old.

Paw wax. Its in a yellow tin about 2 inch wide(round) 1cm high, with a paw print on it. you only use a small amount each time. Pet shops should sell it. Not only does it help them not to slip it also protects the pads as it moistens
