I heard that there is  a new breed of dog, that is a mix of Lab and Poddle.  With a wonderful temperment, also does not shed.  And is not a yappy type dog.     Can you give me info about it and where I might find on.  Do you have any pictures to show me ?    Hope that you can help me with this search  !     Thank you !    Debbie

Sorry Debbie, you have been misinformed there is no such breed. A cross between two dogs is just that a cross, the particular cross you are talking of was tried by the GDB some years ago and then abandoned because there is no way of knowing what each individual pup will be like. Some will not shed others will, some will have a good temperament other wont. I am lead to believe there a number in rescues kennels around the country so that would be a good place to get one. If you do go to a private breeder make sure that both the parents are health tested and found fit. You will not be able to register the dog with the KC except as a working dog and only be able to compete with it outside the showring in obedience or agility.

Sorry Debbie. a Labradoodle is not a breed - it is a crossbreed - as you say a mixture of Labrador & Poodle. Like all crossbreeds, the problem is you don't know if you'll get a coat type of a Poodle or labrador - so it may shed. I don't know many yappy Labs, but I have known some yappy Poodles - again you don't know which you'll get. if you want a labrador - find a reputable Lab breeder. If you want a Poodle, decide which size you want & find a reputable breeder. If you want a crossbreed - try your local rescue, you'll find one a lot cheaper than a so-called Labradoodle! Look here for some not very impressive photos. Remember that once you get beyond first crosses, the puppies are just as likely to suffer from any hereditary defects (and both breeds involved have quite a number) as there purebred forebears especially as KC/BVA health checks cannot be carried out.

Hi Debbie,
With the 'Labradoodle', just as with any other crossbreed, nothing is certain. Temperament depends very much on that of the parents and the way the pups are raised. With a shedding lab and non-shedding poodle for parents, it is 50-50 whether each pup in a litter will shed or not (you won't find out until 4 or 5 months at the earliest).

If you do a 'search' on here (top right corner of the screen) and type in labradoodle you will find very many threads on the subject.
