Last week a six year old golden retriever was being walked on the Brecon Beacons, the owners saw him pick up some meat and swallow it before they could get it off him. It looked like part of a carcass. They thought nothing of it returned home and went to lunch. The dog stayed in the garden. An hour later they went out and found the dog dead. An autopsy showed the dog had picked up poisoned bait!
The wardens in the park are now aware, but if you do happen to be in that area do be careful.

This happened in Scotland as well, a friend of mine breeds cocker spaniels, two had gone to a lovely home, she took them out walking the dogs found some meat and within a day both were dead, the meat had been deliberately poisoned!  There are some very sick people in this world!

Yes, we have a neighbouring farmer here too (Ireland) who lays baited (poisoned) carcases all around the perimeter of his land.  You hear of neighbours dogs that have died from poisoning all too often ;(

Sadly, I am told this is not illegal.  But it's very worrying, should one of my terriers go after a rabbit, and out of shouting distance...it is a great fear.
