Hello everyone
I have just had the allergy test results back for my Bichon and they have come back positive for House dust and storage mites.

I give her piriton and oil of evening primrose oil, I am going to try the indorex spray as have been told that its really good. Can anyone suggest anything else I can do to help her. I must admit she doesnt scratch all the time, but I would like to stop it all together.

Dont know if this will ever be possible though??

I think you might find Fish Body Oil would be much better than EPO for your dog with regard to this as it is an anti-inflammatory.  Also Vitamin C is a natural anti-histamine, you can give this to bowel tolerance, suggest 500 - 1000mg in the form of Ester C with bio-flavenoids.  The indorex spray can be very helpful if you do the whole house, furnishings etc.

Did the vet also tell you to keep the temperature down if possible ?

Does anyone know of a sure fire way of getting rid of dust mites,is this at all possible or is it wishful thinking??

Dont think you can totally be rid of them as you are constantly shedding skin ( which they love) but frequent hoovering helps and the leaflet given to my by my vet says to keep pets out of the room 2-3 hours after hoovering- also to use a hoover with an allergen filter.
Ventilate rooms well to reduce humidity
wash pets bedding and toys weekly at 40-60 degree .
Keep room temperatures to below 22 degrees .
also to avoid carpets where possible,
mop down room where pet spends most of time with a damp cloth to remove any dust

Molly my shih tzu has this allergy. She is having desensitisation injections as we took her to a specialist vet. She is getting a little better now - doesnt lick her paws as much so we hope it will work.
