Hi
Has anyone used galastop? I'd like to hear of any experiences and the effect it had on the bitch. My girl has taken it, it has finished the phantom but it seems to have left her a bit hyper. I'm not sure if its my imagination or not :( I'm also wondering how long it will take her to calm do a bit.
Thanks Champdoggers

Hi annieee
Cant help you with the galastop im afraid, just wanted to know how bad the phantom was? Ebony had a little milk but no other symptoms, and all i did was cut down her food & water a bit and walk her out a little more .No sooner has she got over it and if she sticks to the 6 month thing she is due again in June.
I think it will be a long way off before Eb calms down yet she is really enjoying the joys of spring.

I wouldn't use Galastop ever again. I used it on my young beagle and it made her quite ill. She was really off colour, and not behaving like she normally would. She didn't even want to go for her walk and she also went off her food, when she did eat she was sick. Since then i have used products from Dorwest Herbs for phantom preganancy and i've found they have no bad side effects. As for time it took Daisy a few Days to get back to her normal self after taking the Galastop.

Hi Beagle.
All the symptoms you describe are of a phantom pregnancy, I think it a little harsh to blame "Galastop" which is just a milk inhibitor.

I have used it to good effect, no problems, milk dried up within a few days.

Hi
I have to say, the Galastop seemed to work on Lola without any bad effects. She was subdued with the phantom. She had quite big 'boobs' and started producing milk. I took her to the vet after being advised by a friend that she could get an infection in her womb. The vet put her on antibiotics and galastop. After a few days, her teats started to look smaller and her 'boobs' are shrinking by the day. She seems a lot more bouncy now. I'm not sure if her hormones are back to normal as she seems a bit more hyper than she used to be but what with the season and the phantom, and the fact that she is a few months older, I'm not sure if this is her normal self or not :D She was in season in January and it is nearly May - thats 5 months!!! She could be due another season soon - what a bother :(

Sorry - had one very bad experience with Galastop - poor bitch was violently sick afterwards and very off colour for a few days.   Probably stopped the phantom, but not the way to do it!

Hi Dawn B,
No it was definately the Galastop that made my beagle ill. She was absolutely fine behaviour wise and health wise apart from she had alot of milk in her teats. The milk had been there for a number of weeks and her teats were getting very hard so i decided to try galastop. Within 48 hours of her taking the galastop she was ill. I've also spoken to other people who've said the same about the product, i will definately take the natural route from now on.
However, i'm sure it does work for some dogs.

Hi
I think we were very lucky. Judging by the replires here. We had no ill effects what-so-ever. I will not give it in the future though. I panicked at te time but now realise it is a natural occurancce in bitches after a season. I was worried about the infection as she did have a slight vaginal dischcarge.
Thanks for your comments all.

Yep, must work for a lot of dogs, mine included!  I suppose you will always get some dogs that react badly to every drug, thank goodness the dogs suffered no long lasting damage.
