hello
I have just bought Prince back from his walk, this was a new walk dstination for us as some one suggested it had a nice pond, anyway to the point. Prince was walking by my side quite happily on his lead sniffing and smelling and greeting all the dogs that went by, we met a dalmation a labrador and a small poodle he was fine with all of these and tried to do his lets run off and play and leave them chatting thing. We went about halfway round again when a man called out is he friendly he had what seemed to be a staffy? I said yes as he likes other dogs and usually wants to greet everyone. Well the man walked closer with the dog and everything seemed fine they were licking and smelling each other when all of a sudden all h*ll broke loose, Prince started snarling and growling the other dog also, the other owner started to drag his dog away and Prince was trying to follow well Prince pulled me down into the mud trying to get to the other dog and the man was trying to get his dog away which he managed by picking it up by its throat. It probably lasted all of 30 seconds but it was one of the scariest things ever.
By the time I picked myself up the man and other dog were about 30ft way walking rapidly in the other direction and the dog kept dancing round trying to look at Prince. I got Prince under control ( he did not look at all bothered ) walked back to the car and took him home.
Is he becoming dog aggressive do you think? he was fine with all the other dogs and when I walk to the shops with me he is fine with any strange dogs he meets and he loves going to his training classes.

Was the other dog on lead?
We had the same problem last Sunday when we took Lacey for a walk. She was playing with her ball when another Staffie came out of nowehre and started growling and snapping at Lacey and just as I went to put her collar on the other dog bite her in the shoulder. My natural reation was to pull the other dog off but luckily I managed to think through what I was doing or else I could have ripped off a peice of Lacey's skin. I managed to part the two of them and hold them at arms length away from each other whilst they were still growling and barking at each other. The other dog's owner strolled over as casual as you like and said 'it's just part of their nature' then put the collar on his bitch who I was holding and stolled of!!!!! I was so busy checking Lacey was ok that I didn't even think to ask the bloke for his name or number or anything. Luckily she was ok apart from a bit of fur mssing of her shoulder. Thankfully she has been out since and it doesn't seem to have affected her at all but even though it only lasted for about 20 seconds I have to admit it was bloody scary.

Without seeing what happened it's very hard to say - lots of sniffing sounds as if they were both trying to get the measure of each other - Staffies aren't always very good at giving out doggie body language and this may have set your boy off :(
