Hi,
Thought I would post this, there is quite a large parvo outbreak, kennel cough and also Lepto in Scotland (AYRSHIRE and surrounding areas) just to make people aware. As i'm showing in Scotalnd in a couple of weeks all my dogs are getting the kennel cough vaccine (I know there are many strains) however I have a 12 week old pup not taking any chances.
This post is just to make people aware especially those of us who show, week old puppies have already been affected,so please if your dogs pick up kennel cough please leave them at home.

Hi ,
Several breeders in the area, when I picked my pup from there,he was vaccinated earlier because of the problems in that area,I thought no more of it until I was showing in Ireland.People there from Scotland were saying the problem had not gone away they had it since xmas.As well as Parvo and a case of Lepto was also seen at my breeders vets (vertinary nurse) had to be put PTS.
There were also several dogs coughing at a CH ,show in Scotland, and alitter of one week old pups in Scotland has kennel cough.
Which is why i urge if anyone suspects kennel cough please leave your dogs at home best place for them and to prevent furher speading better to be safe than sorry.

Thanks for the info but now I am concerned. I am picking up my pup from there in 3 weeks. What are the early signs of Parvo and is there treatment if its found early enough?
very worried Kat

Hi,
I wouldn't worry too much, the breeder of my pup worked at her vets although she didn't cpme into contact with the dogs with Parvo the other nurses dealt with them ,she was paranoid as she had a litter at home so the litter was vaccinated early.,she also followed all the normal precautions of disinfecting etc.
Our pup is perfectly healthy and i'm sure yours will be to.Most people have their dogs vaccinated and i'm sure your breeders would have theirs up todate berfore she bred the litter, the pups also carry the mothers immunity for a little while berfore it begins to taper off .
Regards Briony
