I have always been fascinated by alternative therapies etc and have thought for some time about career change. So whats everyones opinion on it and what sort of things have you tried etc?

I have successfully used acupuncture, chiropractic, homoeopathy, Tellington Touch, Colloidal Silver, Bach Flower Remedies; I would not actually use the term "alternative" myself. I like to take a holistic approach to my dog's health and believe in preventive measures as much as possible and believe that the absence of signs of clinical illness does not, necessarily, equate to wellness or health!
Correct, species appropriate diet, minimisation of use of chemicals, appropriate exercise (including warming up and warming down) maximises the opportunity of harmony and a strong immune system and reduces the chances of illness/injury and speeds up recovery.
I also believe in identifying and treating causes not symptoms otherwise there can be no "cure".

Tohme, this is the problem with the doctors they treat the symptoms but dont find out why you are having the problems, i hardly ever go to the doctors now, i totally agree with you :)

All for it Michelle,
i have been suffering from lots of bloating and tummy problems, the doctors have'nt done anything for me, i became a vegetarian and went to see someone for an allergy test and found i was allergic to so many things including Wheat and milk, i cut these things from my diet and now i take glutamine and Fos (fructo oligosaccharides) to help repair my gut, i feel so much better,
go for it girl

Hi Michelle
I made this same career change about twelve years ago and I certainly haven't regretted it. Generally, people are becoming more interested in their own health and well being and as Tohme says, treating the causes rather than just the symptoms. There are a huge number of complementary / holistic therapies and which area to go into will depend on where your interest lie, how much time and money you can spend getting qualified etc. - although I think this is a continuous process anyway (the more you learn, the more you realise how little you know and want to know more).
A word of warning though, be careful to research the training courses . The standards vary considerably, even within professional courses, and with all the changes going on in the industry you may found you've spend considerable time and money on a course that within a few years is no longer recognised.
If I can be of any help or you want more info don't hesitate to PM me.
All the best
Jenny
