Ok there seems to be alot of confusion here, mainly i hope because i am new at chat boards i have at present 1 great dane pup at 4 half months old and 1 cocker spaniel at 12-13 years old.  I recently purchased another great dane at 9 nmonths old to keep my little pup company and because i love dogs.  On arriving home with the 9 month old dane she was ver stiff geting out of the car after only a hour & half journey.  We called the breeder straight away voicing our concerns, they had not noticed any problems.  We always take our new dogs to the vet for a health check, we took the dog (9month) for her check and the vet was of the opinion that she had damaged growth plates or related, she threw her hip out which also concerned him, and that fact that she was stiff when she got out of the car he was of the opinion she may have the onset of arthritis.  Ok i agree vets do not know everything about all breeds but if you do not value there opinion then why do we bother.  It was a difficult decision to return this dog however we felt we had no option as our vet did recomend it as he said we would suffer alot of heartache and trauma if we did keep her.  I know a dog is for life i have had my share of dogs, all of which i feel i have looked after very well.  I do not know what more i can say about this situation, i realise many of you think i was wrong, i am sure you would have kept her but unfortunatly i did not.  This has left me with a 4 half month old pup and an old cocker spanile,  the 4 half month pup is the one going to puppy classes.  I also realise some of you do not think i should look for of get another pup, this is fine everyone is entiteled to their opinion.  Should this stop anyone on the site from allowing me to have a pup form them then i have no problem with this as you must be happy that whoever is getting your babies is suitable, i know i would not give a pup to anyone i did not think could or would care for it.
Well thats it i have nothing more i can add, except thanks for all the replies all advice or critisism?? is accepted and considered carefully
:-D

Don't take it personally.  The beauty of this forum is people aren't afraid to give opposing views.  That's what makes it worth coming on here.  I'll keep my opinions to myself as I think you've heard all twenty three sides by now ;)
