My three year old maiden bitch WHWT is on day 55 approx and has been experiencing a slight discharge for about a week, more when walking. She was swabbed before mating and she was put on antibiotics for a slight infection. She seems happy and healthy even though she went off her food and had morning sickness also noticed poessiveness with my daughter. Has anyone experienced this problem with their bitches or any information would be helpful.

Many thanks

Mosieb

hi, a small amount of clear or creamy discharge from the vulva is normal, however if it is excessive, coloured or foul smelling a vet check would be sensible.
She is 8 weeks in whelp now & her body will be preparing for the birth.  :)

we have taken maya to see the vet who has put her back on antib saying that the infection may of never gone in first place. they want to scan her but she is petrified and i dont want to upset with not long to go. They said a scan would only show dead  or alive. If puppies had died she would go into labour early, Not sure what is the best action as she is unsure of people and only has eyes for me which is moises daughter my name is tasha x

A scan would show if all was well & if there are strong heart-beats.
I'm sure they will all be ok.
What sort of infection did she have when mated? What colour is her vaginal discharge? Did the vet take a vaginal swab this time?
Is she generally unsure about all people or just vets?
hope she's ok.  :)

They did't say what the infection was only that is was slight, And no they did't swab her or suggest it too us. Its a green colour and not much but her back legs were damp lookin yellowish.  She is not very trusting to strangers and vets. She has the softest temperment not a bad bone in her. But is very reliant on me, as we have gone through the whole process of mating and pregnancy together, she is my parents dog but you would'nt believe it she is my 24 hour shadow. lucky my springer span likes her. tasha x

Its a green colour but looks yellowish when leaked on to her feathers, i would'nt say lots of this leaking. More when out walking you could see this in her feathers. x

Hi, Sorry to go on about the colour, but it could be important. I'll sent you a PM. :)

If it is as you say a green discharge this isn't usually a good sign.  Hope all goes well though and keep us up-to-date
