Could anyone give me some tips on how to freshen my 20 year old yorkies mouth I know he needs to have them cleaned at vets, but I feel he is far to old to go through that.I don't think that he is in any pain from his teeth, but they are very brown and really smell bad, the vet did say the smell may be because other medical reasons, which he is being treated for. I really just want his mouth to feel a bit more plesant for him,as im sure it is awful.

Have you tried brushing them? :)

Or you could try logic gel.  I got mine from the vet although it is cheaper from vetmedic online chemist.

no I have never brushed them, but he always had chews which kept them clean, but he's not so bothered with chews now, thats why I  think they have gone so dirty. I don't think he would let me start cleaning them now.(he still has all his teeth and he may use them if I go near him with a tooth brush. What is logic gel?.

You just rub logic gel into the gums.  It works with the enzymes in the mouth to help break down the tartar on the teeth.  Mine love it but I also brush their teeth too.  It took a while to get the technique right and I do one side per night as they loose concentration quickly!  It is working though and I have seen a great improvement over the past six weeks.

http://www.dorwest.com/vet_hom.htm

Fragaria pilules from Dorwest, just give them to the dog and it dissolves tartar, completely harmless homoeopathic remedy.
