I have an eight year old collie mix.  She recently started to keep her right front leg off the floor and keeping it close to her body.  About twice a day she will start to scream in pain.  Her whole body will tense up.  She now doesn't want anyone to be around her.  She will not come to my husband who was always her favorite.  She hids or wants to be alone.  We have another dog who she loves and plays with, but will not have anything to do with him either.  I have been to two vets and they don't agree on what the problem is with her.  One put her on etogesics and the other put her on steroids.  I stopped the one and gave the other.  Don't know what to do.  Can't stand her being in pain.

Has your dog been x-rayed, if not I would think that the next step. May be ask to be referred to a specialist vet as there is no need for your bitch it be in such pain. Would have suspected arthritis from you description but it is not possible to diagnose over the net.

If you ask your vet to do radiographic plates, suggest that he looks at the synovia as well as the bone.   Good Luck  hope you get some good pain relief for her.

I would limit her exercise for a while and see if it makes any difference.
