We went away at the weekend and a halogen heater started a fire in my awning, not sure how this happend but would not use one again. All is okay now but my two dogs were in cages next to this happening I thought dogs would sence somthing but we only noticed a problem when the flames were present.  They say you learn by your mistakes, and i have.  MY question is do the dogs inhale smoke like we do.  Although even my son wasnt coughing that badly.  But the reason we took the dogs this weekend was to get one scanned, could this be a problem to her?  Any advice would be much appreaciated.

Oh how terrible. We have been away over Easter & bought a halogen heater for our awning. I thought they have a safety aspect that will make them turn off when they are knocked?
I pressume the smoke was not too bad & that you managed to get your dogs out in good time?
Dogs can inhale smoke. I'd pop them to the vets for a check up to be safe. But I'm sure they will be ok.

Oh yes, dogs can suffer from smoke just as we can. The only saving grace is that because they are nearer the ground than us, and because smoke rises, they could be below the worst of it and in clearer air.

t on fire a couple of years ago and I had two dogs at the time who were both in the kitchen, by the time I realised there was a fire the kitchen was filling up with somoke and there was flames coming out the front of the washer. The two dogs lying in their basket as if nothing was the matter, strange eh!
