The flesh might be weak but the spirit's is still willing!

He doesn't know he is neutered & so will still mark his territory we have a procession here with six dogs
Where one marks they all mark(outside I must add)

All my dogs think it is their duty to mark my bitch :o always having to wash her down  funny thing is it does not seem to smell but it does stain.
Don't think they intend for it to go on her, they just can't wait for her to move once she has had a pee.
The neutered dog we used to have did the same - just like the entire dog we have now. When on lead though, I don't let them stop every 5 seconds - they have to learn to walk on. We also have a spayed bitch, now aged 11, who always marks territory when off lead. Before having her, I didn't know that bitches did this!

:D I had one of them Claire
My sister took him to the market with her and was more than halfway round before she realised he'd been sprinkling on EVERY stall she paused at for more than a second
Hi Clare
Dogs don't have to mark every object that stands more than inch above ground level so if you don't want him to do it don't let him.
When I am walking my lad and he is only the lead I let him do it once so he can empty and then it depends how long we are out. He knows better than to keep trying to stop me whilst he is on the lead :)

Why does he do it??? Because he's learnt to........ Neutering doesn't deter from learnt behaviours.
ON everything? Because he feels EVERY Dog in the neighbourhood has to know he's there.....
Oh tell me about it! I have bitches myself, but i do walk a friends two Jack Russells sometimes. The older one has to be kept on a lead as he will run off after rabbits, but he wants to mark everything, particularly as he is entire. The trouble is that everytime he wants to stop he digs his heels in and pulls backwards, usually trying to yank my arm out of my socket! I am trying to teach him that he doesn't get to stop if he does that, and then i stop when he is walking nicely as a reward. (I always let him do it a couple of times so that he is emptied before i stop him.)
When do dogs start doing this? Our dog never used to but our bitch liked to. Our boy puppy doesnt do it yet, weve only been walking him for a few days for about 15 mins and he doesnt go at all while hes out he waits until we get home or goes before we leave (which is the way i like it)

Actually - joking aside - it may mean a prostate problem which should be checked out by the vet....... :(
