hello, has anyone been to this holiday park? Is it an expensive Butlins, or is it really as lovely as it looks? Any info or advice would be gratefully received.....

Is it the one in Newquay?

Hi Harriet, sorry  took so long...yes it is. Do you know it or anything about it? Am looking for a nice holiday park that's not full of yobs and all night discos , and without broken glass all over the playgrounds....thanks

Bobo, haven't stayed there myself but have friends who have been. Driven past whilst on holiday and had a good gawp at it, it looks absolutely beautiful!! Friends highly recommend and yes, it's very up market-and very expensive too. You can take a virtual tour- sorry can't do links. http://www.whiteacres.co.uk/

Have you been to Newquay before? I know everyone's taste is different so maybe you adore the place.
I used to think it was the best place on Earth when in my teens and during my 20's and have had many wonderful hols there. Then when I had my own kids decided to take a holiday there again. Well, think maybe it was because I was older and was looking for different things from a holiday, but the last time I visited I HATED the place!! It was overcrouded, you couldn't stick a pin in the beach, couldn't get a table in a cafe, everywhere was packed and the roads were terribly congested too. Can't believe how my tastes have changed, that never seemed to bother me when younger. However White acres seems to have everything and you wouldn't need to venture out if you didn't want to. :-)

Hope I've not put you off :-( but my favourite place in Cornwall now is St Ives, great for a family holiday. Have a good one wherever you go! We're off to South Wales this year will be the 3rd time now. Can definitely recommend Wales, it's just as beautiful as Devon or Cornwall but nowhere near as packed. :-)

I like St.Blazey/ St.Austell- lovely little beaches (Polkerris, Mavigesy (Sp), Carlyon Bay, etc ;-)) , coves and caverns and doesn't seem to be quite as busy as elsewhere :-)

Hi, I haven't stayed at white acres but i have stayed at Hendra Hoilday park and that is good. It is quite large they have a cabaret room open till 1am a sports bar and discos for the teans and a swimming complex and with it being so big you don't really notice all thats going on. If you take your dogs you will be at the top of the park and thats reasonablly quiet they have a large feild for the dogs to play in which they can be let off (really important for us) and if you don't mind driving theres lots to see and do. Safeway is just down the road (about 5mins) and macdonalds is next to it. There are lots of walks as well it all depends on what you want from a holiday. Will warn you Newquay gets really busy in August so be warned. www.hendra-holidays.co.uk sorry cant do links

I am mystyfied (again ! :) ) Why do people drive all the way to devon (or wherever) just to stay in a holiday park with all those amenities/facilities??? You may as well go to one down the road if you dont plan on getting out & seeing the area you are staying in

BTW, fully agree, Newquay is dreadful place all summer....full of grockels & jammed up with cars. :( I am glad to live in a bit of Devon that the toursts have never found.

Where's that then Sam? I'm on me way LOL I agree with what you said about staying on a holiday park and not leaving it to see the actual place you are in. I'm the sort that likes to visit all surrounding areas, the best holiday I ever had was a camping one in Cornwall, don't think we stayed in one place above 2 days before moving on. (must be the pikey in me :P) By the end of the holiday we had got pitching the tent down to a fine art and could put it up in a matter minutes.
