What can I do, my dog has just come back from surgery on his eyes, he has on a clic collar but is able to get his paw in to scratch and he has stiches.
I thought the whole idea of these collars was so they couldnt do this.
There are no vets open to get advice and we went to Hereford for his surgery which is 180 miles away.

Can you adjust it (sorry if this is a daft question) ????????
The one I had to use on Beano you could adjust to suit the size of neck.

Don't know how much help this is, but can you put a sock/bandage over the paws he is using to scratch with.  I know it won't stop him doing it, but it might stop him catching his claw in the stitches.

I'm no expert by any means; but have you considered putting some socks on his paws, and securing them with tape, so at least the claws are covered?

Sorry I can't be of more help.

I can try but I am sure he will just pull them off. Why do dogs always wait until vets and pet shops are closed before playing up.
I wont be able to sleep tonight for fear of waking up to goodness knows what.

Sandie, you could always see an emergency Vet, and they may be able to help you.

I may have to if he keeps it up. They charge the earth though. I will try with the socks first if not I will ring the emergency vet for advice.

What about taping/stapling an extension around the exsisting collar with cardboard

Hi sandie ,sorry can't be much help but did you go to the EVC in Leominster on the A49 ?? YOU were so close to me i only live 10 minutes away !! If he is getting his paws through the narrow end (neck area) i once wound masking tape around the collar till it got smaller and smaller around the neck till it attached to a thick leather collar. and you can cut it off cheaply and easily ...mand x x
